Bible Study Verse

2 Corinthians 8: 7, 9 –
But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving… For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich. 2 Corinthians 8:7, 9 ESV

One of the things I loved about my dad was his constant generosity. Every holiday season he would go out of his way to generously care for someone in his sphere of influence, from buying a fridge for a needy family to covering rent for someone who’d lost their job to paying for Christmas presents for a family who couldn’t afford them.

This extended to other things as well. My dad would always make it a point to take care of visiting pastors or missionaries buying them clothes, giving money or loaning a car.

I’m thankful for his example. He saw generosity like the apostle Paul did, as an act of grace that was based on the example of Jesus.

Action Point
Pay attention this week to the needs of your friends and family. Find someone to generously care for, as you seek to follow Jesus’ example.

Sportsman’s Tip of the Day
I’ve often found that the best fishing experiences are in the most remote and difficult locations to reach. Even if the fishing isn’t great, the joy of getting somewhere remote and quiet is well worth the time.
