In today’s devotional we learn that as we travel through life, we’ll have many experiences which are positive, negative, happy, sad, adventurous, boring, mundane and challenging.
Bible Study Verses
Psalms 118:24 HCSB
This is the day the Lord has made: let us rejoice and be glad in it.
From October to April every year COF kids have a unique privilege to go on an antlerless deer hunt on several Texas Hill Country Ranches. The hunts are arranged by COF and accommodated by Christian Outfitters. In the three day weekend hunts kids see more deer than they have ever seen. They get excited about the number of deer they see. Father son or daughter sit in beautifully camouflaged blinds hidden in a large cluster of trees. Once the animals are harvested, “with precise shot placement”, the joy and happiness that they experienced together is priceless. For 24 years now I have been watching father son or daughter have the time of their life. The joy it brings to me never gets old. The happiness and joy on their faces is priceless.
As we travel through life, we’ll have many experiences which are positive, negative, happy, sad, adventurous, boring, mundane and challenging. We are called to rejoice in all things. God created us in His image. He takes great pleasure in seeing us enjoy His creations (which is everything on this earth). God loves it when we smile and are exuberant in our behavior. Just as I have the wonderful experience of watching kids have the time of their life, our Lord Jesus Christ relishes in seeing us be happy and joyful in our life adventures. Make a choice each day when you wake up to be joyful. God loves that!!!!!
Sportsman’s Tip of the day
When traveling with your kids on long hunting or fishing trips try to take this time to have long discussions about the Lord and life. Ask them questions that require a short or long response. In the discussions be transparent and admit your faults and failures and how God brought you through them and what you learned about life through the experience. If the opportunity comes up for whatever reason pull over to a safe place and pray with them. As they get older and more appreciative they will never forget a hunting or fishing trip with Dad that spoke wisdom into their lives and they will eventually share the same with their kids and your grandkids.
