In today’s Devotional I will admit that it’s hard for me to understand that when certain things happen in my life or when I am witnessing the suffering of a friend or family member and then I have to have faith that in all things God works for the good. I know God has a plan but it still hurts. That’s where our faith get’s it’s test.
Bible Study Verse
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”. Romans 8:28, NIV
Thoughts:
A few years ago, my dog ended up slipping a disc in his back by jumping and landing wrongly. It was a strenuous time of trying to nurse him back to health, alleviate his pain, and take care of him. I had to be with him and watch over him almost all time of the day, while working and doing everyday life normally. Some of you may be thinking: “It’s just a dog”, but this dog and I have bonded since I got him and we do everything together. He hunts and fishes with me, hikes with me, explores with me, goes to work with me, drives backroads with me, and we’re always together. It was difficult for the both of us, and it was my human intuition to ask why is this happening to me?
Action Point:
Difficult experiences and circumstances in life are inevitable. One day, I will be without my outdoor buddy, who’s usually running and trekking right beside me. That day is getting close. However, maybe you are facing something more serious than an injured dog. Maybe you’re facing an illness, a divorce, the loss of a loved one, an addiction, or something else that is detrimental. However, I know that God is going to bring good things out of this. Our hope is not in our circumstances, our hope is in Jesus! If we look to Jesus and love Him, He will work all things for our good.
Sportsman’s Tip of the Day:
When doing an overnight excursion, line your sleeping-bag stuff sack with a heavy-duty garbage bag to keep your sleeping bag dry in any weather.
