Try Staying Mad and Aggravated At Your Wife and Children When You Pray With Them
Bible Study Verse Psalm 127:1
Unless the Lord builds a house, its builders labor over it in vain; unless the Lord watches over a city, the watchman stays alert in vain. (HCSB)
Thoughts
I believe the house reference means more than just a residence, but refers to life itself. Whether your house is your life, family, or dwelling, without God as the Leader of everything in your world, you are just wasting time. The same is true for your outdoor world. If you plan to buy a boat, ask God for guidance. If you are looking to lease a good piece of dirt to hunt, ask God to show you the way. If you wonder if you should go to church with your family or go fishing. . . . you probably already know that answer.
Action Point
Start by asking God to make you the holy Christian man your family needs you to be. That process begins with prayer. A few years ago, the Lord convicted me to pray daily with my family. I’m not as faithful with it as I was back then but it really made a difference. Sometimes, before I leave the house in the morning, my wife and I join hands and pray together. It sure makes a difference in the day. And sometimes after we pray my wife will say DATE NIGHT :), so there are other benefits. :)
Try staying mad and aggravated at your wife and children when you pray with them daily. Imagine how incredible your relationship with your wife and kids could be if you shook off your pride and became the man God wants you to be. BTW, just praying, no judging or discussion unless they ask.
Sportsmen’s Tip of the Day
Surround yourself with quality men who are good stewards of our outdoor resources and spiritual life. Join a Men’s Bible Study or Accountability Group. The fellowship is much better and we all need someone to watch our back.
